Maria is both hyperverbal and partially semispeaking and nonspeaking. Her ability to speak with her vocal chords fluctuates depending on adrenaline, stress levels, and energy. Maria's preferred form of communication is to type. In professional settings, Maria primarily speaks, reads and writes the English dialect of Queen's English, which is neither superior nor inferior to any other dialect of English.
Maria was born prematurely in November 2002, and has been a disability advocate ever since.
